A message from General John “Jack” Keane, USA (Ret.):
As a member of the Military Officers of America Association, we invite you to learn more about our close-knit community of men and women with a shared history of service to our nation. Founded in 1959 with the personal support of President Dwight D. and Mamie Eisenhower, the Army Distaff Foundation was tasked to care for Army widows living in isolation and financial hardship.
After 60 years, Knollwood is the premier life plan community for older officers of the Uniformed Services and their families. We are on a mission to deliver the best possible care to residents after a lifetime of service and share our expertise to shape how life plan communities nationwide deliver care.
Our offerings are unmatched, and our location is unbeatable. We’re across from Rock Creek Park, yet minutes to the nation’s top shopping and dining, cultural, and historical attractions and the best hospitals, including Walter Reed Military Medical Center.
We offer a full-continuum of top-notch, person-centered care, including skilled nursing and memory care with a 5-star Federal Government rating. We’re especially proud of several exciting new programs that involve cutting-edge technologies and wellness innovations to promote healthy living, including:
- Advanced physical therapy with a robotic exoskeleton
- Multi-disciplinary cognitive therapy for brain health
- Cutting-edge fall prevention technology
- Upcoming deployment of a robotic companion
- Low-tech innovations, such as self-expressive mask-making, art and music therapy, and dementia interventions
At Knollwood, we never stop serving. We hope you can imagine yourself living your best life here with us.
General John “Jack” Keane, USA (Ret.) is Chairman of the Board for the Army Distaff Foundation and Knollwood.
