Knollwood proudly serves those who have served our nation. This labor of love starts with providing commissioned officers (ages 62 and better) and their families with a community in NW Washington, DC that feels like home—only better. Convenient and connected, and adjacent to beautiful Rock Creek Park, Knollwood is where neighbors become friends and friends become family. It’s a common bond in the most uncommon place.
A DAY AT THE OPERA
Recently, Knollwood was pleased to welcome critically acclaimed mezzo-soprano Denyce Graves for a special resident-only performance. Mrs. Graves is recognized globally—gracing the stages of the world’s greatest opera houses and concert halls. However, this particular event hit much closer to home. You see, the singer who USA Today identified as “an operatic superstar of the 21st Century” was also a student of the Duke Ellington School of the Arts, where Knollwood resident Judith Allen was a principal. Considering Judith had also been involved in mentoring Denyce throughout kindergarten, middle school, and high school, the reunion was just as special as the performance itself. How about an encore?
