About Knollwood

Knollwood, owned and funded by the Army Distaff Foundation, is a premier life plan community for those who have served our nation – including officers of the US Uniformed Services, high-level federal employees from select agencies, and select family members of those eligible. Since its inception, Knollwood has expanded to include four levels of care: independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing care, and the Special Care Center for individuals with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. For more than a half a century, Knollwood has been the best duty station, serving those who have served our nation.

Through our services, the Army Distaff Foundation honors military sacrifice, preserves the legacy of our armed forces, and communicates gratitude to those who have protected our freedom.

Our commitments:

Provide comprehensive, life-affirming health and wellness care to officers of the Uniformed Services, high-level federal employees, and members of their family.

Institute best practices and be a leader in older adult care solutions and innovation.

Offer financial assistance to residents who lack the means to pay.

The Board of Directors has the overall responsibility for the conduct, overall health and effectiveness of The Army Distaff Foundation. As such, the Board determines the organization’s mission and purposes, ensures effective organizational planning and adequate resources, monitors programs and services, and works to enhance public image.
