Skilled Memory Care and Support
Special Care Center: The Special Care Center provides dedicated memory support, giving residents a safe, adaptive environment that meets the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs of those with memory impairment. The nursing care program provides a flexible, person-centered approach, designed specifically to benefit residents who are between the moderate to moderately severe stages of dementia (stages 4 through 6 as described by the Alzheimer’s Association).
Therapeutic recreation provided in the Special Care Center encourages meaningful interactions and promotes sensory stimulation through activities like music and art therapies, reminiscence groups, and aromatherapy sessions. Like the Health Services Center, the Special Care Center is licensed as a skilled nursing center. However, the Special Care Center programming is designed to engage higher-functioning residents with memory impairments who are able to participate and benefit from the cognitive therapies offered.
