Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation

Health Services Center: Short-term rehabilitation and long-term skilled nursing services are available at Knollwood retirement community’s Health Services Center in Washington, DC’s Upper Chevy Chase neighborhood. All accommodations are licensed and Medicare and Medicaid-certified with a five-star rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. This is a total-care nursing home within Knollwood that caters to people who need 24-hour care but do not benefit from cognitive therapies offered in the Special Care Center, either because they do not suffer from dementia or their physical and cognitive care needs are advanced. The Health Services Center is available to people on a temporary basis, as they recover from a surgery or injury, as well as for long-term nursing care. There is a registered nurse on duty at all times, with a full staff of licensed nurses and certified nursing assistants. This highly-skilled team delivers person-centered, compassionate care.

Short and long-term skilled services include 24/7 nursing care, nutritious dining, assistance with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, eating, medication), care coordination, housekeeping, and other amenities. Residents have access to on-site attending physicians and specialists. Knollwood’s Health Services Center promotes wellness and purposeful living through a wide range of social, art, music, and other active programs.

Rehabilitation Services

For those in need of rehabilitation, Knollwood offers comprehensive physical, occupational, speech, aquatic, and massage therapies. Likewise, we provide cutting-edge therapies not offered by other nursing centers—including robotic exoskeleton physical therapy and cognitive therapy with a powerful multi-dimensional technology platform.
